Day 15 - Day in Seattle

We spent most of the day in downtown Seattle.  Taking a big a...... pickup into downtown Seattle isn't a good idea.  And...........it is expensive down there.  We spent $19 to park here for three hours.  I am too cheap to feel like this was a good deal!

All the following pictures were taken with our little pocket Panasonic camera.  For some reason, clicking on them twice doesn't enlarge them like those taken by the Nikon camera.  A single click does, however, enlarge them some.

We took an "Underground Seattle" tour, which was actually a lot of fun and educational.  Seattle has quite a history.

We went through a tunnel on the way to downtown.

Downtown trolley.

Totem pole being repaired.

Toni beside a statue of Chief Seattle.

Oldest Cafe in Seattle.

Picture of part of the undergroound.  All this was above ground at one time but it sank.

More undground.

To let light into the underground, they had these skylights.  This is actually part of the sidewalk above.

There was a bank down here.  Here was a teller's cage.  I think FDIC probably closed this bank.  But wait...............this would have been before FDIC!

And here was the bank vault door.  I think Butch Cassidy or Jesse James looted it.

In the old days, there were 2500 "seamtresses" in Seattle and 25,000 men.  The city needed to raise money so they decided to tax the sewing machines sinc there were so many seamtresses.  When they did a count, they found only one sewing machine.  So they figured out what the seamtresses were actually doing so they came up with a "sin" tax.  This is a picture of some of the seamtresses.

Evidently, the Ducks are everywhere!

Toni beside a "lady" wooden statue thingy.  Evidently, the model used was well endowed.

The Seattle Needle.

Enlarge this and you will see some mounted fish attached to this overpass!

We had fun today but I can guarantee you that it would be better to run around in a small car versus a long bed full crew cab Dodge 2500 diesel pickup.  I have to be honest by saying I hate cities.
