Day 6 - Petrified Forest & Painted Desert

On our way to Williams, AZ to see the Grand Canyon tomorrow, we went through the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert:

We enjoyed the "Painted Desert" but if you have seen one desert you have pretty much seen them all.

See what I mean??!!

Here was the best part!!  Lunch in the shade!!

We learned at a bird show that this is a Raven and Ravens are on the intelligence level of Dolphins or 66 year old men!

There were some nice petroglyphs (you know, old drawings on rocks).  It was pretty warm here.

Look closely!  Maybe even do the enlarge thing.  I think the Indians were bored when they did these.

More to look closely at.  I think the figures were aliens!

This petrified log bridge has a name but I forgot what it is!

We finally found the rock logs!  Toni was hot so I had to beg someone to take my picture!  But..........I didn't blame her.  It was sort of hot.

More of the petrified things.

There was one area where these things had a big fight.  Sort of scary!

Knowing these things roamed the area made us really nervous.

These kids shouldn't have been smiling so much.  What with all the danger out there.

The dinosaur thingies made us so nervous that I wouldn't stop to take a picture of these so I took one through the rear view mirror.

Well, we made it through without being harmed!
