Day 8 - Las Vegas

We got here around 1:00 today and so far we hate it here.  It is hot and way too many people.  Later this evening, we will go check out some of the casinos but we don't like to gamble.

Really nice campground.  Yeah, right.

We took the "Camp Here" sign to heart.

At least we are within walking distance to the casinos.

Walking distance from the casinos was a curse!  We just got back from the strip after spending about 2 1/2 hours just trying to get from the bad end (Circus Circus) to the good end, whereever that is.  We paid $14 for two bus tickets since we didn't want to walk.  After waiting at least 30 minutes for the double decker bus to arrive, Toni and I, along with 246 other people, finally got on a bus that already had over 200 people on it.

Talk about standing arm pit to arm pit, that was us!  The danged bus moved about the speed of a 18 month old child crawling along on a sidewalk.  We suffered along until the second stop (about 3 blocks from where we got on) and couldn't stand it any longer so we disembarked, i.e. we got off post haste.

Toni really wanted to see some of the nicer casinos so we started off on foot to the promised land.  Several minutes later at the Treasure Island Casino, we ran into a literal mob of people that were "enjoying" a free pirate ship show and couldn't go any farther.  We finally gave up the idea of finding the holy grail and turned around to trudge back to our camper, all four feet hurting like the dickens.

I HATE VEGAS!!!  BTW, what idiot named the casino "Circus, Circus"? I wonder what would have been wrong with just calling it the "Circus Casino"?

And another thing!  The cost of meals and camping here is rediculous!  If wasn't for wanting to go see the Hoover Dam tomorrow, we would pull out first thing tomorrow.  WOW, I reckon I am just too much of a country boy.
