Day 9 - Hoover Dam

We took our time getting up and around and went to tour the Hoover Dam, 30 miles out of Las Vegas.

I am sure by now you recognize my sweet wife, Toni.  In case you haven't noticed, the dam is right behind her.

Here is me with my usual halo above my head.  Oh yeah, that is really the new bridge downstream from the dam.

This is Lake Mead.  Notice the change in color on the rocks?  That was caused by a flood in 1983 and the change in color is the water level marking.  My mind is working a little better today as shown by my remembering a fact!

This is only half of the giant generators inside the dam.

I just loved the generators so here is another picture.

Actually, I loved the American flag most of all.

And, a sideways picture of the dam.

One last picture of the two of us taken after we finished the tour.  It was 105 degrees this day so it is a miracle we could still stand.  This was taken by a couple from Flower Mound, TX that we met.

Tomorrow, we travel 430 miles to Carson City, NV.  That is way farther than we like to drive in one day these days.  We have gotten really wimpy and we are still feeling a little snake biten after the tire incident.  Of course, dragging a fifth wheel camper full of half the stuff we own doesn't help matters.  It pulls really, really well but still, 15,000 pounds is quite a bit of weight.  You would think a person with the intelligence of say, a Raven, would know better than to bite off such an undertaking as this trip.  In case you don't understand the "Raven" reference, you need to read the post about the rock logs.
